Our recent purchase of EMD Crop BioScience allows us to bring even more benefits to farmers around the world. By providing ongoing research in biofertility, biocontrol, and bioyield enhancers, we are helping farmers feed the world. We believe our innovative products will significantly change the way farmers produce food. These new products will control insects, control weeds, stimulate growth, and make applied nutrients more efficient - all using tools supplied by nature.
Feed
We supply phytase and xylanase enzymes that provide better utilization of feed raw materials and thereby offer both economic and environmental benefits to the hog and poultry feed industries. Phytase helps the animal to better utilize the phosphorus in the feed, and xylanase helps the animal better utilize the energy and protein available in the feed.

Biofuel
We are the leading producer of enzymes for the conversion of starch into sugars, which in turn are fermented into bioethanol. Our research group is focused on the next generation of biofuels – cellulosic bioethanol. Within the next few years, the conversion of biomass into bioethanol is expected to be commercialized with the help of our cellulase enzymes.
Oils and fats processing
We are working on enzymes that will improve the process efficiency and cost-effectiveness of producing biodiesel from canola and soybeans. We also help make healthier vegetable oil products that do not contain trans fats by supplying products like Lipozyme® to the vegetable oil processing industry. Lipozyme has a beneficial effect on the melting properties of margarine and shortening without forming trans fats.
